The way this scam works is that you receive a phone call with information about a family member who has been ill or to tell you someone has-been arrested, died, or to let you know you have won a wonderful prize. You are then instructed to immediately call a number for more information. There may or may not be someone at the end of the line when you call and this is where significant charges can occur.
